SSOW Planner

Power & Infrastructure Resourcing is currently looking for an experienced Safe System of Work (SSOW) Planner on behalf of our client within the rail infrastructure sector.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing, dynamic business environment where you will play a key role in ensuring the safe planning and coordination of railway works in line with strict industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce Safe Work Packs (SWPs) in accordance with NR/L2/OHS/019 and relevant Rule Book modules
  • Apply the hierarchy of control when planning safe systems of work
  • Collaborate with Responsible Managers, PICs, and technical specialists to ensure accurate planning
  • Use key planning documents including Sectional Appendix, hazard directories, signalling diagrams, TRCS/WARAs, and more
  • Issue SWPs to COSS/PIC at least one shift in advance and ensure correct implementation
  • Review, audit, and correct SWPs where required, ensuring compliance at all times
  • Support internal/external audits and continuous improvement activities
  • Conduct site walkouts for familiarisation and accurate planning
  • Work alongside Possession Planners, Isolation Planners, and Network Rail planning teams
  • Ensure compliance with PPS, Engineering Access Statements, and Railhub systems

About You:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the rail industry
  • Strong understanding of railway legislation and safe systems of work
  • Basic IT skills with ability to use planning systems (PPS / Railhub desirable)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and travel to different locations when required
  • Organised with the ability to plan and forecast work requirements
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
