This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced OLE engineering professional with strong technical, construction, and assurance knowledge within the railway infrastructure industry.
As an OLE Senior Project Engineer – CRE-C, you will play a critical role in leading engineering and construction delivery activities across major Overhead Line Equipment projects.
You will take responsibility for technical compliance, engineering assurance, construction coordination, and project delivery while ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, within programme, and to the highest quality standards.
Acting as the Construction CRE-C, you will interface with engineering, construction, design, commercial, and project delivery teams to ensure effective coordination throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will possess extensive experience within OLE engineering and rail electrification projects, along with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Lead and manage OLE engineering and construction delivery activities across multiple projects
• Act as Construction CRE-C, ensuring full technical compliance with standards, design requirements, and CDM regulations
• Review and manage “For Construction” documentation, ensuring designs are buildable and efficiently delivered on site
• Manage Technical Queries (TQs), design changes, site instructions, and engineering coordination activities
• Lead the preparation and assurance of construction documentation including WPPs, ITPs, Task Briefings, and handback documentation
• Provide technical leadership and support to engineering and construction teams, including setting out and resolving technical site issues
• Carry out site inspections, engineering audits, and quality assurance checks to monitor safety, progress, and compliance
• Support engineering assurance activities including GRIP/ES deliverables, entry into service, and project handovers
• Maintain accurate project records, reporting, and as-built documentation throughout all project stages
• Coordinate engineering, construction, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
• Support construction planning, programme development, and resource coordination activities
• Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards, company procedures, environmental requirements, and safe systems of work
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to engineering staff and project teams
• HNC / ONC / Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 10 years’ experience working on OLE rail infrastructure projects
• Previous experience carrying out CRE-C responsibilities within rail electrification projects
• Strong understanding of OLE installation, construction, testing, and commissioning activities
• Good knowledge of OLE systems, foundations, engineering assurance, and construction coordination
• Valid PTS
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel as required
• Previous OLEC5 Certified / AtW
• CRE nominated experience
• Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
• Membership with professional engineering institutions such as IET, IMechE, or RailEI
• Experience delivering large-scale rail electrification projects
• Knowledge of planning software and programme coordination (P6)
• Strong reporting, client-facing, and stakeholder management experience
