Nominated Person (Rail)

As a Nominated Person (NP) in the rail industry, you hold a critical position responsible for ensuring safety during track possessions and isolations. Your role involves authorizing access to the worksite, overseeing engineering activities, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations. As nominated person (NP) you must demonstrate their skills and knowledge as a Nominated Person. This includes understanding the risks of the overhead line system, interpreting OLE designs, and reading wiring instructions. Furthermore, they should be up-to-date with the latest safety guidelines and advice. 

As a Nominated Person, you may be appointed for isolation duties in any area of Network Rail’s controlled infrastructure. You must therefore make sure you are familiar with the area and its OLE before you take an isolation.
