Design Integration Engineer - Glasgow, Scotland

P&I Resourcing are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading rail infrastructure contractor, for a Design Integration Engineer based in Glasgow, Scotland.

Duties:

  • Act as Design Integration Engineer as required on SPL Powerline UK projects.
  • Lead the Projects Design Integration to deliver high quality, integrated designs to budget and programme.
  • Assist Commercial, Lead Engineers and Project Managers with ITT documents (briefs/remits) with respect to design packages.
  • Strike up good working relationships with external and internal design and construction teams to deliver integrated designs which are buildable and maintainable.
  • Lead the design integration and coordination team.
  • Input to Design and Engineering Management Plan, Document Management Plans as Engineering Control measures and BEP as project requires.
  • Assist with Set-up, Control and Implementation of Internal and External Collaboration Systems, ideally experience of Viewpoint, ProjectWise, Assetwise & Bentley/Microstation.
  • Manage the IDC/DRN process through the lifecycle with the CEM.
  • Work in close cooperation with the Discipline Leads and Project Engineers.
  • Co-ordination / management abilities to deal with several small projects or large multi-disciplined projects.
  • Design capability as pre-requisite for submission review and checking in co-ordination with Project Engineers.
  • Set-up, Lead and contribute to Design/Interation meetings with Designers, Client, Sub-Contractors and Project Managers.
  • Managing external Design Subcontractors; Reporting; Programme and Change Management Input.
  • Identify Opportunities for process improvemnent and propose innovative solutions to streamline design integration process and any Mimimal Viable Product processes.
  • Liaising between Design and Operations department; Coordinating Construction input to Design and relevant timeous Constructability Reviews.
  • Co-ordination/Reporting on of Design Deliverables.

The person:

  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in design assurance role ideally within the railway industry and on OLE projects.
  • Project Engineer or Design Engineer Experience within the railway industry and on OLE projects.
  • Leading design integration in multi-disciplinary project.
  • Sound knowledge of railway systems.
  • Sound knowledge of Engineering management process in the Railway Environment.
  • Management of Design Sub-Contractors.
  • Manage the IDC/DRN process throughout the lifecycle.
  • Projectwise and Microstation/Autocad experience.
  • Computer literacy including various software programmes.
  • Willingness to travel and to learn and open minded for new technologies.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and support as required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to stay calm and meet deadlines.
