Non-Working Mechanical Supervisor 

Power & Infrastructure Resourcing is currently recruiting for 2 x Non-Working Mechanical Supervisors to join a major project at Hinkley Point C, one of the UK's largest and most significant nuclear new-build developments.

Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset
Contract Duration: 9 Months (with strong potential for extension)
Start Date: End of June 2026
Rate: Competitive (Negotiable depending on experience)
Working Pattern: 10 Days On / 4 Days Off

About the Role

Our client is a leading industrial systems integrator delivering specialist engineering solutions across the nuclear and energy sectors. Their expertise spans mechanical engineering, metallurgy, piping, valves, welding, fabrication, installation, logistics, maintenance, repair, and decommissioning services.

As a Non-Working Mechanical Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing mechanical installation activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with the stringent standards expected on a major nuclear construction project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate mechanical installation activities on site.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with nuclear industry standards, procedures, and site requirements.
  • Lead and support mechanical teams and subcontractors to achieve project objectives.
  • Monitor quality, productivity, and progress against project schedules.
  • Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
  • Liaise with project management, engineering teams, and client representatives.
  • Ensure all permits, quality documentation, and project records are maintained accurately.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all site regulations.

Essential Requirements

  • Extensive mechanical engineering experience, ideally within the nuclear, energy, heavy industrial, or engineering construction sectors.
  • Minimum 5 years' verified experience in a supervisory role or as a:
    • Pipefitter
    • Mechanical Fitter
    • Mechanical Machinist
    • Plater
  • Strong understanding of mechanical installation, piping systems, fabrication, and welding activities.
  • Ability to work effectively within highly regulated and safety-critical environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Valid CCNSG Safety Passport.

Hinkley Point C Competency Requirements

Applicants must meet the Hinkley Point C competency framework for Non-Working Mechanical Supervisors through one of the recognised qualification and experience routes, including relevant mechanical trade qualifications, engineering qualifications, or demonstrable experience within mechanical disciplines.

Recognised qualifications may include:

  • Mechanical Engineering qualifications and apprenticeships.
  • Pipefitting, Mechanical Fitting, Mechanical Machining, or Plating qualifications.
  • Indian Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Indian Fitter Trade Test.
  • Turkish Mechanical Engineering Degree.
  • Turkish Machine Engineering Degree.
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
  • Metallurgical and Material Engineering Degree from Eskisehir Osmangazi University.

Additional recognised nuclear qualifications may include:

  • BOI HO
  • CSQ
  • SCNI
  • M1
  • HN1 Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • LATS
  • SSSTS
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Enrolment onto ILM Level 3 Certificate C&BE.
  • Confirmation of booking onto the Nuclear Engineering Construction Supervisor (NECS) programme.
  • Previous experience on major nuclear projects.
  • French or Portuguese language skills would be advantageous due to collaboration with international project teams.

Working Hours

  • 10 Days On / 4 Days Off
  • Day shifts currently in operation
  • Potential requirement to support night shift activities
  • 07:00 – 17:00
  • 1.5-hour unpaid break
  • 8.5 paid hours per day
