This is an exciting opportunity for an engineering professional with strong technical knowledge of Overhead Line Equipment construction, rail electrification systems, and railway infrastructure delivery.
As an OLE Project Engineer (Construction), you will support the Senior OLE Engineer / CRE in the successful delivery of OLE construction activities across a variety of rail infrastructure projects.
You will be responsible for providing technical support to construction teams, ensuring works are delivered in line with approved drawings, specifications, and engineering standards while maintaining high levels of safety, quality, and compliance.
The successful candidate will assist with construction planning, engineering assurance, technical problem-solving, and project coordination activities across both site and office environments.

• Support the delivery of OLE construction activities safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements
• Ensure works are completed in accordance with approved “For Construction” drawings, specifications, and engineering procedures
• Review designs for constructability and assist with Technical Queries (TQs) and design changes
• Prepare and manage construction documentation including WPPs, Task Briefings, ITPs, and site packs
• Provide technical support to site teams including setting out, surveying, and resolving technical issues
• Maintain accurate project records, reporting documentation, trackers, and handover information
• Carry out inspections, quality assurance activities, and support defect/NCR management processes
• Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with safe systems of work, risk assessments, and engineering standards
• Support engineering assurance, audits, and entry into service activities
• Coordinate with subcontractors, stakeholders, engineering teams, and project delivery personnel
• Assist with programme planning, resource coordination, and project scheduling activities
• Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and company procedures throughout all project activities
• Minimum 5 years’ experience within Engineering and the railway electrification sector
• Previous experience supporting OLE construction projects within the rail industry
• Valid PTS
• HNC / ONC / Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Strong understanding of OLE installation and construction activities
• Experience providing technical support within live railway environments
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Good IT and computer literacy including Microsoft Office and engineering software
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel/work nights and weekends where required
• Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
• Membership with IET, IMechE, or RailEI
• Experience using Bentley Viewer and ProjectWise
• Knowledge of engineering assurance and construction coordination activities
• Experience supporting CRE or senior engineering functions
• Knowledge of foundation types, OLE systems, and assurance activities
